The degree course in Western and Eastern Foreign Languages and Cultures offers a basic, methodological and historical training in linguistic and literary studies, focusing on the international cultural dimension. This humanistic approach makes it possible to enter the process of knowledge production and transmission, ensuring valuable resources in terms of knowledge flexibility and the development of different professional aptitudes.
Characterising disciplines are Western European languages (English/Anglo-American, French, Spanish, German and Russian) and Eastern languages (Arabic and Chinese), with their respective philologies and literary heritages.
Within the curriculum, which guarantees a solid basic training (linguistics/glottology; Italian literature; historical-geographical disciplines), it is possible to choose courses in other areas (art-music; mass communications; psychology, didactics and philosophy).
The course offers numerous Erasmus+ agreements and scholarships for non-European countries to enable students to carry out a study/internship period abroad.
In order to sharpen its professionalising potential, the course organises numerous workshops, conferences and training events and offers a wide range of agreements with schools, cultural institutes, publishing houses, libraries and other bodies at which to carry out curricular internships.
The profile of graduates in Western and Eastern Foreign Languages and Cultures can extend to the context of the global economy and international diplomacy, where linguistic and cultural knowledge finds application in business and trade relations, international cooperation and diplomatic and consular representations.
