The master's degree course offers students an in-depth theoretical and methodological preparation in the fields of philology, literature, history and archaeology. In particular, emphasis is placed on the critical ability to stand in front of the text, from the ascertainment of its constitution to its linguistic and semiotic aspects, to its literary and historical interpretation and evaluation. Due to its interclass nature, the course allows students to obtain either a Master's degree in Philology, Literature and History of Antiquity (LM-15) or a Master's degree in Modern Philology (LM-14), depending on the path chosen.

Graduates in Classical and Modern Philology perform intellectual functions that are decisive for the transmission of culture and the development of forms of life inspired by the values of humanitas. They educate, research, write in a professionally conscious manner. They are able to participate in numerous professions in the field of mass communications and the organisation of artistic, literary and bibliographic assets. They are not ‘only’ capable of teaching, but they also know how to develop textual skills in any field where they operate as experts in humanity.
